The Hispanic Federation invites all LGBTQ+ identifying artists, groups and/or theatre companies to submit proposals of one-act play production to be considered to participate in the 8th edition of FUERZAfest; taking place from June 7th - June 18th, 2023 at the Julia de Burgos Performance & Arts Center, located at 1680 Lexington Avenue, New York City.

“The Power of Storytelling to Drive Change” 

Yass a resounding tittle that encompasses the fierce commitment towards the LGBTQ+ community that is the main the reason for being of this festival.

There’s no doubt that it is us as a community who should be driving our narrative.  It is up to us the LGBTQ+ community to be the catalyst for change. We will set the course and point everyone in the right direction so we can move forward to a better tomorrow for us all.

FUERZAfest is eager to hear your stories and bring them to the forefront. So go ahead and submit your best work forward. Let’s entertain, educate and elevate the legacy of our Latinx LGBTQ+ community like never before.

We will be the power and driving force for change that we hope to see in the world! 

Participation Guidelines and Terms


  1. Productions should focus on stories of the Latinx LGBTQ+ community that seek to either uplift, educate, impact our lives, or that recognize the progress we’ve made. Storytelling about the

  2. Latinx LGBTQ+ community is an important part of recognizing our stories for us and for those not

  3. Latinx and LGBTQ+. With that said we encourage most performers to be from that community.

  4. Play script in digital format.

  5. Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  6. Can be any genre or style. Dance-theater, or other storytelling formats are also welcome.

  7. Has not been showcased in New York City in the past 5 years. We encourage new works.

  8. Two (2) or more performers. Monologues will not be accepted in this section of the festival.

  9. Plays can be in Spanish or English.

  10. All props and stage elements should be temporary and easily removable.


  1. Each artist/group/company will be required to present on 2 days, which they will share with another participating production.

  2. Must participate in a two-hour orientation on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

  3. Attend the Festival’s opening and closing activities.

  4. Provide a Stage Manager who will call the show cues.

  5. Assign a member of the production for sound management.

  6. Initial and date each page of this participation guidelines document.

  7. Complete and sign the attached Participation Agreement.

  8. Submit all materials by Friday, April 7, 2023 to
