When the world turns upside down, the arts community steps up!
To all the fearless latinx LGBTQ artists who shared their creations with us and the world. You represent strength, perseverance and resilience, providing great inspiration as we continue to adjust to life changes resulting from COVID19.
Our fifth annual FUERZAfest faced a tremendous challenge due to COVID-19. We urgently needed to expand programming and resources to provide greater support to the community while the world was on pause. Our response: "Queerantine Fuerza," a 90-minute digital program released on Sunday, May 17, commemorating the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
More than two dozen Latinx and LGBTQ+ artists from the U.S., Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Mexico, and Argentina, in a display of true international unity, participated in a digital arts showcase that highlighted transgressive art performances through theatre, cinema, dance, musical performance, sketch comedy, and spoken word—all tied together by opening remarks from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11 contestant, Miss Shuga Cain. Check out the highlights here, from our fierce and feisty "Queerantine Fuerza"!
Remember: the word “FUERZA” translates into strength, and that is exactly what we will deliver to the community in this unprecedented time. Please consider a donation to support LGBTQ artists.
