Poetry is boundless, offering infinite possibilities. It's a form of expression, rebellion, refuge, and affirmation, helping us navigate complex emotions and understand our identities. As a non-normative expression, poetry bridges personal and political realities. It allows inward exploration of self-identity and the collective process of redefining how we're perceived.
POETRY AT FUERZAfest
We welcome and celebrate the vibrant, multigenerational, and multicultural poetic voices of New York City's Latinx LGBTQ+ community with a space where poets proudly embrace their authenticity and queerness, drawing from their unique perspectives to craft powerful expressions of pride. Here, poetry becomes a resonant force, reflecting shared experiences, fears, and challenges, while also confronting the social and political violence that impacts our community. Through their words, these poets create a unified voice that embodies the strength, resilience, and beauty of living beyond the confines of heteronormativity and the binary.
